Honestly impressed with how well this works. The tint switches almost instantly, and the dark setting gives the car a lot more privacy. Installation was easier than I expected too

How to Install

1)Β Remove the Door Panel
Carefully remove the interior door panel to access the window glass and wiring area. Keep screws and clips safely aside to avoid damage.

2) Measure & Apply the Film (Dry Installation Only)

Measure the glass precisely and cut the smart film to fit.

⚠️ The window must be completely clean and fully dry.
⚠️ Do NOT apply water or soap solution.

Peel the protective layer and carefully apply the film evenly onto the dry glass surface. Use firm pressure to remove air pockets. Avoid bending, folding, or creasing the film.

3) Connect the Power Wire
Run the film wires safely inside the door panel area. Connect the wires to the included inverter, then connect the inverter to the vehicle’s 12V ACC power source.

4) Secure the Inverter
Place the inverter securely inside the door panel.

5) Test Before Closing

Turn the ignition on and test both clear and dark modes to ensure proper operation before reinstalling the door panel.

6) Reinstall the Door Panel
Once confirmed working, reinstall the door panel carefully and tighten all screws.

How does it Work

How PDLC Smart Tint Works

TintIQ Lite uses advanced PDLC technology with liquid crystal particles embedded inside the film.

When powered, the particles align to let light pass through for a clear view. Reduce the power, and the particles scatter to create a frosted haze for privacy.

As voltage increases, the film becomes clearer. Lower the voltage, and the tint becomes more frosted for increased privacy. The film stays frosted in its default state when the car is turned off.

How does SPD electronic tint actually work?

SPD stands for Suspended Particle Device. The film contains microscopic light-absorbing particles suspended in a liquid. When no power is applied, the particles are randomly arranged and block light β€” making the glass dark. When you switch it on, an electric field aligns the particles, allowing light to pass through and making the glass clear. It switches almost instantly.

Is it safe to run electrical film on a car window?

Yes. The film operates at low voltage (typically 40–110V AC at very low current), which is well within safe limits for automotive use. The system is properly fused and designed specifically for vehicle installation. It has been used safely in commercial and residential glass for decades.

Does it work when the car is off?

When the car is off and no power is supplied, the film defaults to its tinted/dark state β€” giving you privacy and UV protection automatically whenever you park. You only need power to make it go clear. This is ideal for parked vehicles in the sun.

How dark does it get and is it road legal?

The film transitions between approximately 1% and 70% light transmission. In its darkest state it is very private and blocks most light. Road legal requirements vary by country β€” in many regions rear side windows have no legal limit, but front side windows do. Because the film can be switched clear instantly, it can be used legally by switching to clear when required.

How is it controlled β€” does it need an app?

No app needed. The system comes with a dedicated remote control so you can switch your windows clear or tinted with one press. Simple, instant, no phone required. The remote is compact and can be mounted inside the vehicle.

How is the film installed on the window?

The SPD film is applied directly to the inside surface of the glass using a specialist adhesive, similar to standard window tint film but with electrical connections wired in. Installation is carried out by a professional fitter. The wiring connects to the vehicle's power supply and remote controller. We recommend professional installation to ensure the electrical connections are safe and sealed correctly.

Does it block UV and heat like regular tint?

Yes β€” and it performs better than most standard tints. SPD film blocks up to 99% of UV radiation in both clear and tinted states, protecting your skin and interior. It also significantly reduces infrared heat transmission, keeping your cabin cooler whether the film is clear or dark.

Will it affect my vision or create glare at night?

When switched to clear, the film is highly transparent with up to 70% light transmission β€” similar to standard clear glass. There is a very slight blue-grey tint even in the clear state which is characteristic of SPD technology. At night, simply switch to clear for maximum visibility. The film does not create additional glare.

How long does the film last?

SPD film is built for long-term use and is rated for over 100,000 switching cycles. With normal daily use, this equates to many years of reliable operation. The film itself is UV-stable and resistant to fading. As with any window film, avoiding sharp impacts to the glass will help maintain its longevity.
